The Former President of the Association of Mass Communication Students (AMACOS) Of Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State,Com.Samuel Olaniyan has said the School resumption on September 14,2020 as a directive from the Federal Government is more than a due.
Olaniyan,who is the pioneer president of the department,a Journalist,a Students leader,a broadcaster and an OAP as well as a creative content creator said”as per resumption next week Monday,it a nice step for the Apex Government in the Country because you have to consider for how long we want to remain at home amidst this lockdown period.
Moreover,many of our colleagues are beginning to learn one thing or the other, which is an added knowledge to those who utilize it.But looking at every other nations of the world they are resuming gradually.
Apparently,about resumption aspect we just need to ensure that our Schools are sure for reopening and what are the plan that are on ground,are they adequate classrooms,are we going to strictly adhere to the protocol laid down by the NCDC,he asked.
“This resumption goes beyond Government pronouncement that School should resume,some Schools might even find it difficult to get thermometer,they might not even have the strength to continue getting sanitizers for Students,this are some of the things we have to look into as Stakeholders, Government,as Students ourselves”,he added.
He advised the Government to provide an intention fund for Schools which I don’t think there is no other plans as that,all this will serve as a preparation for resumption and their should be fully automated hand sanitizer available for students.
Therefore, School like Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro Ogun State, have been building classrooms and there is going to be a difference because the number of classes has increased,this will enable the Students to maintain social distancing in their lecture rooms, examination Halls, and warned Students not to hug unnecessarily in order to curb the spread of the deadly virus.
He urged Students to ensure that they adhere strictly to the principles for their safety to the precautionary measure as outlined by the PTF (Presidential Task Force on Covid 19).
